In the beginning of 2000, the foundation of the now patented NGC™ technology was laid. Indevex conducted extensive research and verification work together with a team from Lund University. The objective was to confirm the positive effects of NGC™ as a nutrition intervention in the treatment of metabolic diseases focusing on how and in what form NGC™ should be used. This resulted in new knowledge about how nutrition can be used to stabilize post prandial blood sugar response and control the body weight.

The NGC™ Ingredient contains no added sugar. The sugar and carbohydrates in the blend derives from the natural ingredients (apple, rosehip, sugar beet fibre).
Fatty acids that are required by the human body but cannot be made in sufficient quantity from other substrates, and therefore must be obtained from food, are called essential fatty acids. NGC™ Preload contains the two important essential fatty acids, Omega-3 and 6, both polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). These contain linoleic acid (LA) and alpha-linoleic acid (ALA), widely distributed in plant oils. The human body has a limited ability to convert ALA into the longer-chain n-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which also can be obtained from fish. The balance between Omega 3 and 6 is vital for health; the ratio in NGC™ is 1:2, which is the recommended level to stay healthy.
NGC™ contains carbohydrates that are slowly digested. Carbohydrates are divided into slow (complex) and fast (simple). Slow carbohydrates take longer to break down, such as fibre-rich vegetables and beans, while white sugar and white flour are almost instantly made available to the body as blood sugar. Foods with fibres and complex carbohydrates have a low GI.
NGC™ has three different sources of protein: eggs, peas and whey (from milk). Protein forms the body’s building blocks and is largely found in meat, fish, poultry, eggs, milk and soy products, beans and lentils. Peas and protein from peas are sometimes called “the meat of the vegetable kingdom”, thanks to their rich and beneficial amino acid composition. Peas are particularly rich in lysine and arginine amino acids. Whey protein is a rich protein source including all of the essential amino acids needed in a daily diet, and is biologically one of the most potent proteins. Whey protein contains a high level of leucine, which promotes the synthesis of muscle protein and muscle growth.
